Back to the crash pad @ 711 Dearborn. It’s been a blast having this place in Printers Row and really getting to know and love the city of Chicago. This was the week of Lalapalooza so our neighborhood was packed. Every night we walked around the park listening to some of the bands from the outside. We made the trek up to Six Flags one day, and had an absolute blast. We also journeyed out to see some theatre friends @NorthwesternU perform their last show of the summer program. Carly was brilliant in her performance, of course, and we got to hang out with Sam afterwards at Kafein. We also saw “Men Should Weep” @GriffinTheatreC. Read more
Chicago
August 2013
Last trip of the summer before school’s back in session. We let the kids bring a pal this time, so Luce the Spruce Goose and Jamie joined us for end-of-summer frolicking. Since they were new to Chicago, we re-visited some of the tourist hot spots (Navy Pier, Field/Shedd/Adler, Willis Tower, water taxi, etc.). We had a ton of fun with this gang!

We were riding along the lakefront and it got to the point where you literally couldn’t see 3 feet in front of you. This made for quite a treacherous, and slow, pilgrimage back to Printers Row. Here are some shots Read more
June 2013
Following a great family reunion in Indiana, we took Bekah and Shane up to the loft for a few days. We had no idea this was going on prior to our arrival, but there was a wonderful book fair (Printers Row Lit Fet) taking place on our street. Well, all of us being book nerds, we pretty much lost an entire day here…. Read more
First trip to the Chicago getaway
This was our first trip to the apartment we rented in Printers Row. We got to take in a few fun things, like the Field Museum and walking around Navy Pier, but a good part of the trip was spent setting up the apartment. We bought a couple of pieces of furniture in Memphis, so we loaded up the ol’ Clampett family wagon and headed north. Read more
